We had the most excellent night. Aand, my, can that man gyrate his hips in a very pleasing fashion :op
We decided to treat ourselves to the VIP (FRW 20,000) tickets on account of it being Christmas and feeling absolutely nothing like Christmas - what with there being no seasons, food, presents or anything.
We didn't get there until around 9:30 as Lies was at a meeting. She picked me up at Chez Lando in the car. Parking was a nightmare. The tickets said 'parking and drinks included' - both a bit of a stretch-of-truth ;o/ Parking was completely disorganised and nonsensical, but we did eventually get a space. Then the woman at the bar was extremely rude to us (don't think she liked mzungus) and served everyone else but us. Drinks weren't included, you had to pay! Swiz ;o/
But, anyway, all of that was forgotten as Shaggy hit the stage a few minutes after we arrived :op
We were right up at the very front and it was fantastic. Great atmosphere, spoiled only by a group of overzealous Rwandan security guards who decided to move the crowd back by hitting them with batons! Shaggy had to halt the concert to appeal to them to stop hitting the fans. I guess their tickets said '10,000 - black eye included' ;o/
But other than that it was an excellent night. Lies and I boogied ourselves silly - it was fantastically good fun.
Most excellent way to ease into the festive season and forget about work. Hope they have a few more decent acts in 2009 :)
